the Camden Crawl. It happens every year in the Camden area of
London around the 18th -19th April and has some of the best up-
and-coming bands before they are really famous. I went with
three of my friends to the 2007 ‘crawl’ and the highlight was
definitely seeing Adele perform. We didn’t know anything about
her back then but one of my friends heard that she had a good
voice so we went along. You buy a ticket for the day and just
walk around all day going to see different bands perform in bars
and clubs in Camden. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s running
anymore.
2) Going to the 2002 Commonwealth Games with my family is
something I will never forget. I was only young and my dad told
us on the Saturday morning that he had got tickets to go to the
stadium to watch the athletics finals. It was such a beautiful
sunny day and we went up to Manchester, where the games
were being held, on the train early in the morning. The athletics
was amazing and the two events I’ll never forget are the 100m
and 400m relays. England won both races by less than a second
and I went crazy celebrating with my dad.
3) A fantastic memory that I have is going to the San Diego
Comic-Con with my brother last year. We have both been huge
comic book fans since we were young, and we always said we
would go to comic-con when we got older. So, last year we saved
enough money and got a flight over to America for the
convention. I dressed up as Batman and my brother had an Iron
Man costume. We probably looked a bit silly but everyone at the
convention was dressed up, so it was no problem. My best
moment was having my picture taken with Christian Bale, who
played Batman in the new movies. It was such fun that I’m saving
up to go again next year.
4) One event I’ll never forget is La Tomatina in Spain. I think it
was about 10 or 11 years ago and me and my husband were on
holiday in the Spanish city of Valencia. After a few days we
decided to take a day trip to Buñol, about 30km away. Anyway,
when we arrived, the whole town was having a tomato fight! It
was incredible and I’d never seen anything like it. It was such fun
and when an old Spanish lady poured a whole bucket of
tomatoes over my husband’s head I couldn’t stop laughing. We
found out that the festival happens every year on the last
Wednesday of August and I’d recommend it to everyone.
