The student should have acquired the following skills by the end of Academic English / skills
               modules:
                   The ability to communicate and understand the expectations of academic contexts in all four
                    skill areas
                   The ability to present research results and critical thinking in a clear oral presentation, using IT
                   The ability to correctly read, use and reference different kinds of literature
                   The ability to constructively comment on and summarise the work of others.

               1.3 Key Outcomes


               Knowledge and Understanding

               •    Develop General English  language skills (Language aspect:  lexis, sentence structure,
                    pronunciation, spelling and grammar.  Communicative aspect, expressing ideas, feelings and
                    experiences).

               Intellectual Skills

               •    Apply skills in a range of complex activities.
               •    Independently access and evaluate information (e.g. online information).
               •    Develop research skills gaining insight into new information, knowledge, findings, ideas,
                    concepts leading to innovation.
               •    Operate in a variety of familiar and unfamiliar contexts using a range of technical or learning
                    skills.
               •    Engage in self-directed activities with guidance and evaluation.

               Practical & Transferable Life Skills
               •    Work effectively in a group or team to achieve goals.
               •    Demonstrate capability to lead in certain situations.
               •    Develop self-motivation and time management skills.
               •    Analyse information and make reasoned judgements.
               •    Present information to an audience.
               •    Use a variety of information sources, both print-based and electronic.
