Concept check the meanings of adjectives using examples. E.g. “Is
your grandfather young?”, “Is a child big or small?”
Teaching Tips
For fast finishers ask them to add more adjectives and their
opposites to the list.
Assessment Feedback answers as a group.

They may match mean / kind, friendly / unfriendly too.
Task 9
Skill Speaking
Time 10 mins
You could bring in a picture of your own family members/another
family and use this as an example before the activity.
Teaching Tips
This is a good chance to check understanding of the adjectives and
correct use within sentences.
Encourage students to offer as much information as they can.
Assessment Note down strong sentences and good use of the language and
ask those students to share them with the class during feedback.
Task 10
Skill Speaking
Time 15 mins
Write three example sentences on the board and play through the
Teaching Tips activity with the whole class using the teacher’s family. This will
help understanding and can be used to motivate students.
