                                                   Jane: So Peter tell me all about it. How was your trip away
                                                   with Emma?
                                                   Peter: Well it was nice to be not at work but I can’t say it was
                                                   the best holiday I’ve ever had.
                                                   Jane: Oh no. Why what happened?
                                                   Peter: Well, to begin with we had trouble getting to the
                                                   airport on time. There were major road works so the traffic
                                                   was terrible and we almost missed our flight. Not a great way
                                                   to start a holiday. We should have left earlier, but I thought
                                                   we would have plenty of time. Anyway…
                                                   Jane: Well at least you caught your flight in the end.
                                                   Peter: Yeah. Once we arrived at the hotel, I started to relax. It
                                                   was a nice hotel, which went down to the beach, plenty of
                                                   places to sunbathe.
                                                   Jane: Yeah…you look, um, rather tanned.
                                                   Peter: You mean red. Just, just say it.
                                                   Jane: Well…
                                                   Peter: I like the beach, but there isn’t a lot to do is there? So I
                                                   just fell asleep in the sun and woke up like this.
                                                   Jane: I normally bring a book or a magazine to read.
                                                   Peter: Yeah I should have packed my iPod to listen to some
                                                   music or something.
                                                   Jane: Yeah and remember to put on sun lotion too.
                                                   Peter: So not only did I get sunburnt, on the last day I went to
                                                   the town centre to buy some souvenirs. They had lots of
                                                   beautiful plates and things for the house. I thought they’d look
                                                   nice, you know. But when I came to pack my bag, my bags
                                                   were over 10kg over the weight limit. I had to pay an excess
                                                   at the airport. £50. That was more than the souvenirs put
                                                   together. I definitely shouldn’t have bought so much in the
                                                   market.
                                                   Jane: Oh dear. At least you’re back now.
                                                   Peter: Yeah you live and you learn.
                                                   There is an opportunity to practice pronunciation and
                 Optional Extra / Extension        intonation. Put students in pairs and have them practice the
                                                   dialogue out loud.
