Topic 17 – Appearances
By the end of the lesson you will be able to…
- Describe people’s appearance and what they are
wearing.
Aims for today
- Talk and write about actions happening at the
moment using the present continuous tense.
- Use new vocabulary to discuss and describe images.
Mimes: In this activity students are asked to mime out an
action or activity without speaking. The class is split into two
teams and each team selects a mime for each round. The
teacher tells the mime what action they have to perform, and
their team try to guess what they are doing. The first team to
guess correctly gets a point. Teams then switch the mime.
Optional Warmer
Example ideas for mimes: drinking hot coffee, eating a pizza,
riding a bike, flying a plane. Depending on class ability, the
mimes can be harder or easier by increasing or decreasing
the level of detail in each mime. (For example: drinking hot
coffee slowly).
